I purchased DrivePool for my home media server. I really liked the drive pooling of WHS which is why I hung on to it so long. When I found DrivePool, I decided to upgrade the OS and the Hardware. I tried other competitors for weeks before deciding on StableBit's products. I'm running 9 HDD's in my server. 1 for OS and 8 pooled drives. (Just under 20Tb.) I have folder duplication on most items and triple redundancy on some most important things like family photos and videos . One absolute must for my drive pooling software was the ability to pull any drive out of the server and drop it in a dock and be able to read files on the drive. On several occasions now I've had to pull out a failing drive (thanks to StableBit Scanner) and drop in a new drive. I tell the pool to add it and walk away. You really can't get any better than that! Oh wait! Yes you can! The tech support for the product is awesome! The tech support which I have used a handful of times is always fast and fixes or explains the problem. Shortly after rebuilding my shiny new server, I started seeing drives failing quite frequently (1 every few months). Some of the drives were from the old server and they all run 24/7. Most drives were under warranty so I just swapped them out and let DrivePool do its thing. Then I started seeing some of the replaced drives failing. Enter StableBit Scanner. After install, Scanner seemed to be doing its thing with warning me but I was struggling to keep drives in the machine. This is where StableBit's awesome tech support came in! I explained the issues I was having and they actually troubleshot my hardware problem using logging from StableBit! The problem turned out to be my drive controller! Once a higher end drive controller was installed, I have yet to have a drive fail but it is so nice to know that if one does become suspect, Scanner will be there to let me know. I was so impressed I purchased 2 more licenses! I installed Scanner on one of my customer's company server that I maintain. I can say that Scanner saved my butt on the company server. The software alerted my smart phone via Pushover Notification to a potential hard drive failure. I had a new drive ordered and in my hands before my customer even realized there was a problem. When my customer called to let me know there was a problem, I told them I was aware of the issue, already had a replacement and we just needed to arrange a downtime to swap the drive. NO DATA LOST!
