Quick Settings

(Build 3096)

Back to Contents

The quick settings option allows you to quickly set up default settings for the system. These are preconfigured with reasonable defaults for the device in question. These let you "hit the ground running" and start using StableBit Scanner immediately.

These are not the complete profile settings, but a general settings of these profiles so that you have a good idea of which profile may be best for your situation. You can always customize the settings in Scanner Settings to your exact preferences.

Tablet

The "Tablet" preset is designed for portable devices, so it will scan much more often but only if the system is plugged into a charger.

Scans will be performed at any time, will not wake up the system to scan and will only scan the system if it's not on battery power.

Scans will occur every 7 days (as opposed to the normal 30 days), and unreadable sectors will be re-checked every day.

Laptop

The "Laptop" preset is designed for laptop systems. It will only scan when plugged into power.

Scans will be performed at any time, will not wake up the system to scan and will only scan the system if it's not on battery power.

Scans will occur every 30 days, and unreadable sectors will be rechecked every 30 days.

Desktop

The "Desktop" preset is designed for most desktop systems.

Scans will be performed any time, will wake up the system to perform scans and will only scan if the system is not on battery power.

Scans will occur every 30 days and unreadable sectors will be rechecked every 30 days.

Server

The "Server" preset is designed for servers, and to minimize the impact that scanning may have on your server.

Scans will only be performed between 3AM and 6AM, unless the disks are past due by 14 days (if it's been more than 45 days since the last scan for the disk), will wake up the system to perform scans and will only scan if the system is not running on battery power.

Scans will occur every 30 days, and unreadable sectors will be rechecked every 30 days.

Additionally, unlike the other profiles, scans will not be throttled based on disk activity. This means that scans may adversely affect performance of the system if something else is happening at the same time.
