Nothing about the current update notifications are going to change with the addition of the StableBit Cloud functionality.

We're not moving any features to the cloud or forcing people to use it. Any new features provided by the StableBit Cloud will be in addition to what we have now. So local update notifications are not going away, we'll simply have additional options for update notifications, if you're connected to the cloud.

Okay.  If that is the case, I think that we do need to make sure that updates generate notifications "locally" (as in, are sent out from the local system, independently of StableBit Cloud), if it's not connected to StableBit Cloud.  

Eg, notifications of updates are a priority, and should always work for everyone, no matter the configuration.

No, that functionality has been deprecated. You will now only see update notifications on the server's desktop.

We have no plans to add any additional features to the Essentials Dashboard. However, update notifications will almost certainly be part of the upcoming notifications overhaul with the StableBit Cloud. So you will be able to get those via Email / SMS / social, etc...

This functionality should be available as early BETAs in the coming months.
