The way to test SMART notifications, is like this:
  • Open up the SMART window with the SMART warning.
  • Ignore the warning (let's say permanently).
  • Wait until the orange StableBit Scanner shield icon disappears from the system tray.
  • Un-ignore the SMART warning.
  • Wait a few seconds to get your notifications.
This does work correctly in 2.5.1.3062.

The only quirk / bug is that, when using the Disk Settings window to disable SMART, any existing SMART warnings were left in the "on" state. In other words, if we already had SMART data for a drive, just because you disabled further querying, doesn't mean that the existing data got wiped out. I've addressed this little quirk in the latest build, and so disabling SMART from the Disk Settings window will now also reset SMART notifications into the "off" state.
